Laura is a consultant in Haemostasis and Transfusion Medicine, with joint appointments at NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) and Barts Health Trust, and a Senior Clinical Lecturer in Transfusion Research and Innovation at The Blizard Institute, Barts and the London School of Medicine & Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL).

Her clinical and research remit centres on improving the appropriate use of blood components for the treatment of acquired bleeding disorders (e.g., trauma, obstetrics, cardiac surgery, etc.); providing leadership on plasma strategy for NHSBT; and bridging laboratory research and clinical work by developing new blood components that can improve the management of bleeding disorders. She has led several national research and innovation projects in clinical transfusion, which have been delivering immense benefits to patients and the National Health Service in the UK.
